PH and US Military Officials Meet

Officials from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Pacific Command met in Honolulu, Hawaii last May 7 to 10 to identify activities between the two armed forces along the areas of mutual defense, defense reform, maritime security, peacekeeping operations, cybersecurity and transnational crimes.

Following the thrust set in the Two Plus Two consultations held the prior week, officials from the two armed forces explored modalities to ensure that bilateral activities would yield high impact and high value on identified areas of mutual concern. With the increasing urgency of addressing cyber-related matters, the AFP and PACOM agreed to further enhance technical cooperation on this matter.

The identified activities and other recommendations of the meeting will be approved by the Mutual Defense Board and Security Engagement Board when they are convened in Manila later this year.
