PH and Brunei Convene Joint Defense Working Committee

The  Philippines and Brunei convened for the 6th time their Joint Dense Working Committee on April 11, 2012. Meeting in Brunei, defense officials from both countries updated each other on their nation's respective priorities such as strengthening its Navy and conducting maritime exercises with partners for Brunei and maritime security situation in the West Philippine Sea and the Mindanao peace process for the Philippines.

The defense officials also reviewed the bilateral defense cooperation of the two countries and explored means to further enhance their partnership such as education and training opportunities, maritime training activities and intelligence exchanges.

The Joint Defense Working Committee provides policy direction and supervises the implementation of bilateral defense cooperation between the Philippines and Brunei.
